Re: Feeling the swing

Posted by: () on Tue Dec 30 14:28:47 2003

Ever since I've been coming to this site, everything we talk about is what we see. We always talk about video clips, frame-by-frames, what we notice when our elbow lines up with this or that bodypart. The truth is that when we step up to the plate we can't see ourselves swing, the pitcher doesn't hold a mirror on the mound, and you certainly can't see yourself when someone else videotapes you.
> So I'm asking for you people to talk more about how the swing feels. Muscle memory is what you get after practice, and muscle memory takes over in a real game, cause all the hitter thinks about is the pitch spin, speed and location. Ted Williams says so himself, the hitter's mind is only on the ball.
> So what does the rotational swing feel like, how do I know if I'm applying torque properly? How tense should I feel? I'm sure some of you might have heard of the drill Swinging in the Dark.

What is the drill Swing in the dark? Never heard of it.
