Rotational swings do not cause uppercuts. Hand postion or wrist angle and orientation do. Clearing your hands on a rise ball is easier to do then to hit a drop ball because it requires less lower body rotation to get the bat into a strong hitting position.

Fastpitch players who believe that we should swing different then baseball players should rethink their position. The pricipals are the same for both games with the pitching vertical angle to the plate the only difference. Hitting a riseball only requires the top hand to guide the bat at a higher plane and the elbow is slotted more across the chest then at belly height.
