Re: The Stretch Factor
Working with 'core' exercises are becoming more and more prevelant in today's game. The ability to stretch the muscles is what gives the hitter the chance to keep the hands back longer and creating the coil required to explode the bat through the hitting zone.
Golfers use the x-factor as the key to attaining higher club head speed. Ball players do the same thing by leaving their hands back and shoulders cocked (scapular adduction) while the hips begin to rotate creating greater seperation between shoulder and hip angular displacment (coil). The torso releases the coil and creates faster circular rotation of the shoulders over a shorter time span and thus higher bat head speed.
If you are stiff in the core area it makes it very hard to create any type of xfactor in your swing.
