launch position

(This is a question for Mr Mankin but if there is anyone else who could help clarify this for me I would appreciate it). I bought your DVD and have spent the last few weeks helping my son to rebuild his swing. There is one question that we have. When you "hide the hands" with the initial stride do you end up in launch position? or is there a secondary movement where the elbow drops and the top wrist turns into the swing plane? I'm having trouble explaining to him whether he's suppose to pull back toward the catcher before or after his elbow drops *or both before and after. I would think you wouldn't want to really accelerate that bat head until you have decided to swing but would want to be in launch position when that decision is made. Thanks for your help, Scott
