Re: Rose swing analysis?

Posted by: em () on Wed Nov 26 08:53:08 2003

To my untrained eyes, Rose in this clip is not using bottom hand torque. He seems to
be pushing his top hand to turn the bat. This seems most evident when you look at
the frames right before and thru contact. He has almost stopped rotating and there's
no "hook" of the BHT. The bat lunges out.

Also his back elbow seems really far from "the slot".

Am I seeing this correctly?

>Rose sure seems to have a circular hand path, but little if any top hand torque.
(Maybe the video started too late to see it.) Why does he lack power? Is it the lack of
pre-launch bat sweep that Jack has been referring to lately?
