Jack and Donny-

This is a very good point by Jack.While I think it is preferred to cock the bat in a fairly vertical plane,as the "sweep"/prelaunch tht starts, the bat has to be flattening into the swing plane/getting lined up with the lead arm.This makes it essential to focus on the top hand staying back against the shoulder as the bottom hand goes out so the bat trajectory flattens/stays smooth not wavy/doesn't "overshoot".

This can be seen for,example in the Bonds01 clip at youthbaseball
