Re: tee vs coach pitch

Posted by: Bob () on Fri Mar 7 05:34:20 2008

Where I live they only play T-ball for one year, which is I believe 6 y.o. When my youngest played, the local LL had just changed directors and he changed the "age policy" to match, I believe, the National LL policy. This meant that my daughter and half the first graders could play T-ball while the other half (born after January 1) had to wait till next year. So in that transition year, we had some kids who were in their 2nd year of T-ball. It made for a more confusing venue. When my older daughter played, everyone (boys and Girls) were all in the first grade and it was the first time playing for everyone.

That said, one year of T-ball is enough. If a kid is 7 and has already played a year of T-ball they should move to coach pitch. If anything, I would think it better to play an extra year of coach pitch. If they say "if we do it for you we have to for it for everyone”, then they should do it for everyone. Kids get bored. My daughters love to play ball, but T-ball tried their 6 y.o. patience.
