The hips and the torso rotating together at the same time takes the hands out of the zone way too quickly. Add separation and the hips leading will keep the bat in the zone much longer. <<<

A hitter can have great hip and shoulder rotation with any degree of separation you choose. But if the batters transfer mechanics causes the bat-head to slide linearly behind hands instead attaining a good rate of early angular displacement, the hands will arc away from the path of the ball before the bat-head comes through.
