Hitting to first

Posted by: Jane The Baseball Mom () on Sat Oct 11 21:29:54 2003

My 10 year old son has a beautiful, natural swing and the best batting stance for his age group.

He should be creaming the ball (and was) but now has developed a habit of hitting grounders to first base.

Without looking at him, does anyone know what he is doing wrong? I've tried to watch his swing, and I believe he is swinging too late and makes contact with the ball when it is over the plate. Is it best to hit the ball before it gets over the plate? My husband thinks he has developed a weak swing, and doesn't use all his strength and follow through.

Thanks for any help.
