Josh-
I would be interested in knowing what Rivera "thinks" she is doing.Or maybe she doesn't want to think or know.If you get a chance(usually the players are very accessible)talk with her and let us know what she thinks she is doing.
When I started the quest for mechanics info about 7 years ago, before finding Jack's info.I had a lengthy discussion with Lisa Fernandez and Jennifer Brundage( a couple of successful hitters) about particularly what they thought the arms were doing in the swing, and how this related to handpath. They had no clue, didn't think about it much, but did speculate quite a bit.It was clear they didn't know what they were doing(on a mechanical basis) nor did anyone they were in contact with. This is not surprising. But now the knowledge is out there. This should make training and results better and improve slump busting, but not if what the player or coach thinks is happening is significantly different from what must mechanically happen in reality.
