My 9 yo has a very smooth swing. He makes good contact but has two 'problems' (for lack of better word) that I'm having difficulty explaining to him...

Joe, With a large bat wrap, he may have his hands too high at footplant, which will also cause him to have to swing down at the ball with the result being a flat finish. At footplant, try to get his hands at about the top of the armpit, and I doubt if he will wrap as much. He will then be in a better position to lower his rear shoulder and swing into the path of the ball, which will also allow him to have a higher finish.
