Re: My trip to the CAGE

Hello,

I did the same thing you did. There is a pitching machine me and a few friends went to that had set at 85 mph. There was alittle light that was not consistant. The ball came anywhere from 1.5-2.0 seconds after the light flashed. I missed the first 7 of 20 pitches. The others were like you described.

I reasoned this with my friends afterwards: (they were too chicken to try it and give me crap about this explanation)

The problem is that you don't know for certain when the ball is coming. You see the ball shoot out of the hole. It tests your reaction time unlike live pitching. You can lose between .10-for very quick people to .25 seconds for slower people. Noticing that an 80 mph pitch takes .5 seconds ... You only have .4 (90 mph) to .3 (100 mph) to swing.

I would suggest 2 different methods. Hit slower speeds and work on mechanics AND push yourself by hitting the fastest possible speed you can get around on while keeping your mechanics.

Hi,
