Nate, you might want to try some negative movement with your upper body when your stride foot moves forward. If you look at slow motion video of say...Albert Pujols, you will see that as his stride foot moves forward his back elbow goes up which tips the bat toward the pitcher a bit. You don't have to do this exact move but if you do something similar it will allow your lower body to get started while providing some resistance for your upper body, keeping it from going forward at the same time as the stride foot.
