One thing about swing mechanics, no one seems to agree on the same thing across the board. I have yet to see a good video of a linear swing, and rotational, I've seen many who claim to be doing it but all have variants. I think if your boy loads his shoulders swings and get his hips through and finishes facing the pitcher with a normal stride(3-6 inches) you going to be okay. Start nitpicking it anymore and you will just create a robot who can't swing or hit the ball.
