My son is 8 and is 4'9 and 90lbs, he swings a 29/20 with ease. So I would recommend something along the lines of a 31/22. He certainly should be big enough. But to get him ready, buy a 30 to 31 wood bat and have him swing it in addition to the new game bat you purchase him, I would suggest a techzilla xp or combat virus. Good luck.
