Re: Bonds' Short Stroke

Posted by: THE HITTING GURU () on Sun Aug 24 17:50:02 2003

What do hitting experts mean when they say bonds has a short stroke? Does this only apply to pitches on the inside of the plate and how can I work on gaining a shorter stroke on my swing?

This basically means that the movements from his initial hand position take a small amount of time to be completed. In other words, the arc of his swing occurs in a quick motion which allows him to wait longer on pitches and still make good contact. This occurs on inside as well as outside pitches. One of the best ways to achieve this is to bring your hands closer to your body.
