From there I would go to the bench press. Do at least a weight (66% to 80% of your body weight) that you can perform 10 reps for three sets with 30 seconds to a minute rest between sets. For the legs, jog (preferably not on concrete) 2 to 3 miles at least 3 times per week. In addition, work on a couple of sprints of 40 and 100 yard dashes. If you can get with a track coach it will be an added benefit as speed is about the most important asset a player can have. Speed does not go into slumps. In your spare time, squeeze a rubber or tennis ball whenever you can. These are basic drills that will help you, but are not substitutes for a baseball strength trainer. Lastly, get plenty of rest and do not overeat.
