Sandman,

I'm sure you have before, but review Edgar Martinez's swing. Notice the free swinging action of the the lead arm, particularly in the shoulder socket. I think if you look at enough video of him, you'll see there is no forced hand action, only a release of the hands as the bat is swung through. It's a tough animal to tame.......you know that instinct to hit the ball with our hands. Rarely does his lead arm not get straight, but it's always loose.
