Re: Hand and bat speed

I recently bought a product called the "pro-cut" a weight which takes the gravity center of the bat and brings it closer to the hands. The kids love it. I add weight to the bat and hands but the bat feel lighter to them. They are really starting to compact their swings and get more hits as well. What's your take on this product and its ability to change a swing. Thanks

Personally I think it works great. It has been my experience that most youth drag the bat by pulling. Pulling feels more powerful to them and in truth there is a lot of power in pulling, but short strokes that generate more time are needed for baseball. The Pro-cut changes the balance point of the bat, which helps keep the hands closer to the body, thus creating a shorter stroke. Most of us grew up playing wiffle ball, and as you know, the bats have no weight. Another thought for you would be to put wrist weights on. If the swing gets long, they'll know it. Short strokes to, long strokes through........Sweet!

Good Luck,

Coach C
