Perhaps your GB and popup results are due to always trying to pull the ball?

I agree w/ dougdinger about letting the pitch get deeper (perhaps about even w/ the front of home plate?) before making contact. That way, w/ your normal swing (or maybe a bit of casting), you s/b able to drive the ball the opposite way.

I know I setup my 9-yr old son w/ different tee positions (inside and outfront of home plate or outside deeper) and even at his age, he is quite capable of "hitting it where it's pitched".
