Re: Re: Re: no need to pull the ball

Well, my origional problem is now growing! Though I play in an 18 team league, some of the teams are starting to play me almost like a lefty shift. I would really just like to be able to hit the ball where it is pitched and go to all fields. There has to be something mechanically wrong with my swing. I was thinking that I may be rolling my wrists too late, is that a possibility?

IN ORDER TO COMBAT YOUR PROBLEM YOU WILL NEED A LITTLE BATTING PRACTICE. TO PULL THE BALL YOU SHOULD FIRST LOOK TO HIT INSIDE PITCHES. SECOND, YOU MAY NEED TO MOVE BACK IN THE BATTER'S BOX AND MOVE CLOSER TO THE PLATE. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU EXTRA TIME TO SEE THE PITCHES. THIRD, YOU MAY WANT TO OPEN YOUR STANCE SLIGHTLY IN ORDER TO HAVE BOTH EYES FIXED ON THE INCOMING PITCH. THIS IS USED BECAUSE FOR MANY RIGHT HANDED BATTERS, THEIR DOMINANT EYE IS THEIR RIGHT EYE BUT IN THEIR STANCE THEIR LEFT EYE IS CLOSER TO THE PITCHER. I USED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOW BAT LEFT HANDED AND HAVE ACTUALLY BECOME A BETTER LEFTHANDED HITTER OVERALL. THE KEY FOR YOU THOUGH, IS KEEPING YOUR FRONT SHOULDER IN LONG ENOUGH AND JUST REACTING TO THE INSIDE PITCH RATHER THAN OPENING UP TO SOON AND HITTING OVER THE TOP OF THE BALL.
