Jack--You Missed Something
Dear Jack,
I want to thank you for responding to my last post. Now, I feel I must elaborate it to the point where it becomes a new thread.
In my swing, as my heel drops turned 45 degrees towards the catcher, I drop my back elbow and shoulder, forcing my lead shoulder and elbow up on low pitches. This is the best way to eliminate lunging, because now you must rotate around a stationary axis. The hands, reactive to the forces of the body, must travel in a CHP. Logically, since the back elbow was dropped, this creates THT; the bottom hand creates BHT. Seen in this light, I fail to see how doing this will create wrist-binding; on the contrary, the wrists will wrap in an upward motion around the body. This forces the weight to the inside of the rear thigh, where it must be to hit low pitches correctly.
After watching your video a few times, I have some questions (the entire description is to provide a background):
1) I did not describe this, because I thought it was common sense. But, why waste your time pivoting the toe towards the catcher, when rotation begins at front heel plant? Why not just open the front foot 45-90 degrees, and keep the upper body back, so, the instant the front heel drops, both parts of the body will rotate in the same direction?
2) Why are you so opposed to a bent lead elbow, when, if done correctly, precludes lunging, and forces the body around a stationary axis on low piches?
3) Does it not make sense that when the ballastic movements that I described are performed correctly, the weight will be on the inside of the rear thigh?
Please answer ASAP. I believe some of my arguments have merit, but you are always welcome to prove otherwise.
And, last and but not least--this is something every poster on Batspeed.com will agree with, including Jack--that is why the USA is the greatest nation in the world to live in!
Sincerely,
BHL
