If you are having success pulling the ball, but cannot go the other way it might be bacause your front shoulder is opening too soon and when an outside pitch comes you are swinging with only your lagging arms (your front shoulder has already come through the zone and brought your hips and upper body with it, so all your power is used up) one way to try and fix this is to stand almost pigeon toed so your front side stays closed, keep your front foot pigeon toed even when you take your stride, then let it rotate open on the swing. Soriano does this, as do the entire Chicago Cubs team.
