Re: Re: Swinging down at the ball (chop)

My 12yr old son has recently started swinging down at the ball? He's a big kid with plenty of power who can hit the ball hard, but has this tendency to swing down at it. I'm looking for a technique or training tool to rid him of that ugly swing before it becomes harder to break him of the habit. Is there any other mechanics in his swing I should be looking at?

And his torso should be tilted slightly back toward the catcher and rotate on a fixed axis. No movement forward during rotation. This will be easier if his weight is slightly forward at toe touch prior to rotation. If he starts to rotate with his weight too far back either his backside may collapse or he may lunge (axis drifting forward during rotation).
