Re: hitting ground balls

Posted by: () on Sat May 10 12:05:54 2003

Hi. Im and 15 years onld and currently play in the babe ruth league. I have couple problems with my swing. A couple years ago I was smacking the ball and hitting line drives to all fields but ever since then something has gone wrong. For one I am very small so I don't intend on being a power hitter and I am not very fast so I can't utilize it. Now back to my swing. My dad seems to think that I am dropping my hands and no matter how much I pratice in a game situation I always do it. I am often off balance and either falling towards the plate or losing balance on my back foot. And I have one more problem I have very small wrists and many people have told me that I need to get stronger wrists because my bat speed in't fast enough. Could anyone help me with any of my rpoblems or any exercises I can use to work on them. Thanks

Dude:

1) Do pushups every day...some with your palms flat and some on your fists.
2) Do lots of abdominals.
3) Get your hands back and tight by your armpit...then initiate your swing with your belly button...ie replace the location of your front hip with your belly button.
4) Start boneing your bat.

Have fun.
