HELP PLEASE

My son is just starting at a Jr. College. Thanks to Jack's teachings he
was selected as an all-star at numerous levels (travel, high school).
Anyway, tonight the call came..."Dad, they want to change my swing, they
want me to lay the barrel flat and "slap at the ball"." They want him
to be a lead-off slap hitter since he ran a 6.6 60. We have devoted way
too much time to the swing for it to be ruined. Is there a subtle way
without hurting anyone's ego to say we disagree?
