Re: Hands at Contact...Heavy Bag

Posted by: Coach C () on Thu May 8 09:47:54 2003

I have my daughter working out with swings on a heavy bag. I have the bag just in front of her front foot. At contact should the hands be ahead or even with the bathead?

Barrel even with hands. Don't train hands ahead of barrel. The barrel is all that matters....regardless of your approach to hitting.

Put that bag further back as well. More towards the center of her body and have her learn to get the barrel out. This will keep her connected. It is true that we might tend to hit some balls ahead of the lead foot in games, but the key would be that when that occurs we should be connected (arms to torso). Good Luck!

Respectfully,

Coach C
