From initiation to contact, a high level swing only requires 4 to 4.5 of those frames. Why would think the batter would not have time to bring his hands and body to a good loaded position in the first 7 or 8 frames -- nearly twice the time for an entire swing?

Jack,

The reason the hitter can not wait to start his load until after the pitch is released is this...To try to create momentum (load) in such a short period of time (8/30 sec.) means that it will be too quick and uncontrollable.

The hitter needs to initiate his movement back earlier.

Bond's made some great statements right after he broke the HR record. He spoke about just loading that back leg, just get the back leg loaded early and let it happen.

He couldn't have gotten that homer if he had waited to start loading his back leg until after Mike Bascik released the pitch.
