hey ken!
you must make & take every opportunity to generate force with your legs... that is the major power source, despite what anyone else may say... look at your leg, then look at your arm. the leg is at least 3 or 4 times stronger than the arm. to deny this fact is to deny the LAWS OF LOGIC & PHYSICS.. which most baseball players think they are immune to & that those laws do not apply to them.. otherwise they wouldn't do the idiotic things they do, like not pushing off their back leg, merely taking a very small or long step forward & dropping their hands, doing a little circle hitch witht heir hands, & then drawing back their arm & hands to the launch position, all AFTER the ball has been released.. which will guarantee you will be late to the ball. those guys who think they have all that time in the world to draw back once the pitch is underway like they were playing 16" slow pitch & can't figure out why they are always late, i call those guys "BUGGYWHIPPERS". watch them from the hips down... no torque whatsoever. they might as well be sitting on a barstool for all the power they are getting from their lower body.. these mooks start out flatfooted on their back foot, then end up with all their weight off their back foot at contact, with just the toe touching the ground..

i endorse being up on your toes, so you can push off your back foot. to do otherwise is to diminish your body mass' forward motion, which will diminish your overall force generated. after your lead foot has landed in the closed position, NOW IS THE TIME TO START TORQUEING!!!
START YOUR BACK POWER FOOT FIRST, THEN YOUR FRONT FOOT.. THIS WILL POWER YOUR HIPS OPEN, WHICH WILL POWER YOU UPPER TORSO OPEN, WHICH WILL POWER YOUR SHOULDERS OPEN, WHICH WILL FINALLY POWER YOUR HANDS AROUND, BRINGING YOUR BATHEAD TO THE CONTACT POINT.
to eliminate any chance to generate power from yourpower base is to diminish your batspeed..
