Hey Jack,
I mean the same reason you teach young hitters to land closed because alot of young hitters might get confused with front hip rotation and have premature front side rotation and land with there foot towards the pitcher. Athletic hitters such as college hitters and pro ball hitters kinda already know they should not land with there foot facing the pitcher and it feels awkward. Hey Jack do you know a old hitting instructor last name stubbins?
