Shy youth batters

Posted by: Bill (yyzkid@aol.com) on Mon Apr 28 07:19:53 2003

My son is in his 3rd year of Little League, coming
off two years of Tee ball. A switch hitter, Billy
was an above-average slugger in Tee ball and the
last few months I've worked with his swing using
the "Hit-Away" batting trainer. He has always hit
at his "at-bats" during recent practices with his
teammates pitching to him. But now that the runs
count and the kids are playing with umpires this
year, Billy hasn't swung at a pitch once. He
usually walks or goes down looking. I don't want
to dwell on anything negative with him, but I
could use some advice on how to get my son over
being "ball shy."
