Let me tell you how hitting coaches in the mlb get jobs. Play some years in the big leagues and do well and make friends in the game and someone will go want a job. The front office thinks he must know something so we will get him a job. These great hitters will hit no matter what. Although a coach may say throw your hands at the ball doesn't actually mean that palyer does that when they hit. What great hitters do and what they think they do are two different things. A rod used to say to swing down at the ball and hit the inside top part of it. His opinions has changed as well as all long distance running he used to do. All these old school coaches in pro ball teach throw the hands but if they broke down video of themselves they would see that wasn't the case.
