Maybe it's not a mechanical issue at all. Maybe it's a vision problem. Small miscues between the eyes can cause errors in depth perception. If this hitting problem is a consistant issue, maybe the athlete would benefit from a behavioral optometrist and visual therapy to correct the binocular vision problem.
