Wrist & Torque

I've seen PLT & THT Mechanics (top view of the tee) with "John" and you've mentioned that "both wrists if you look at them, remain straight" in the clip. So I've been applying that into my swing and see the difference between line drive & ground ball after making a contact. My question is this:

How important is the wrist power in terms of applying any kind of torque?
