Season Preperation for hitting

What do you all recommend to get a high school team prepared to hit. The start of the season, in my opinion, requires Bp and medium toss to help with timing, Working the ball "up the middle the other way" also helps after timing is established.
I do not believe that diving into drills is the right approach, until a level of timing and consistency is established.
Any ideas or suggestions!!
