Re: Hands dragging

Posted by: tom.guerry (tom.guerry@kp.org) on Tue Feb 18 15:11:10 2003

My son is 8 and we have been trying to implement Jack's approach. It seems that he is ALWAYS hitting to the right side of the field. Another coach made the comment that he is dragging his hands through the strike zone. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem?

Don't turn him off with overly structured drills at this age.Just get lots of hard swings in with various objects. You might ask rql what he does, sometimes you can go through a step-turn back- swing drill,or a three step karaoke(step with stride foot, step behind with back foot as you turn, then step and swing).I wouldn't get too fired up about hand dragging yet.
