Right size bat, I think you mean. There is no right or wrong length. It's a personal preference, though bats today often do not exceed 34 inches. In terms of weight, it's the same idea. Having a heavier bat is better than having a lighter bat because it forces the use of better mechanics. There is a tradeoff, and that tradeoff is bat speed. If the player isn't getting the bat around in time (and he has no other appreciable mechanical flaws) the bat is likely too heavy.

Players should experiment with different bats. They should choose the one that feels right for them.
