hi, jack, leeball, tom.guery and everyone else...i noticed over at www.webball.com a piece written by paul petricca regarding torque fundamentals....jack, since you have also contributed to webball, i figured that you might be familiar with this piece...what i'm looking for is your (or anyone's)evaluation of this piece...thank you...grc
grc-
I did a quick search of this site using "torque" as the search word. There is a lot of Jack's stuff on there, but only stuff picked and chosen from the website, and usually presented only as scientific background.
Petricca had the insight that some can improve power by locking the bat to the back arm to guarantee torso turn as the initiator of the swing. He later mentions the bat arcing backwards as the swing begins, probably after reading Jack's stuff. He seems to know little enough to be dangerous since he does not stress other important details and would really consider locking the bat to the arm as anything other than some type of drill.Lots of other starnge stuff, like both elbows at bat height, level swing, sweeping encouraged, learning this swing inaddition to more of a contact swing,etc.etc-seems like pretty froggy stuff compared to Jack-s thoughtful analysis.
