> What level of fastpitch are you referencing? To say that faspitch players don't have a clue is an insult! Give these pitchers and hitters some respect. Your comment about sending them to the plate with a "hit strikes" mentality is a pretty good one if you are sitting on less than two outs. What do you want them to swing at? Balls! Our girls are taught to look for "their" pitch with less than two strikes. Their pitch can be any number of locations depending on where their strength is. If she crushes an up and out pitch then so be it. As for the pitchers, yes, they do try and throw strikes to some degree but they also must work the hitter to get her to chase off-speed pitches and keep them off balance.

I currently coach the #1 team in the state of FL in 14U. We have many of the same problems with our hitters that many others have, they were never taught a proper mental approach to the game. Tell me the process you teach, or the process you were taught to anticipate a particular pitch or location.
